There are two main types of projects that the Buyers and Freelancers engage in.

I/ Open-bidding Projects:

With open biddings, the Buyers specify the requirements and descriptions of what need to be done as outlined below.

1. A Buyer posts a project including description, budget range, skill requirements, etc.
2. The Buyer receives bids from the Freelancers.
3. The Buyer selects the most desirable bid based on the Buyer's criteria.
4. The Buyer pays the Freelancer when the project is completed.

A Freelancer participates in the open-biding projects by reviewing the requirements and follow the steps as outlined below.

1. A Freelancer submits a bid including specifying an amount that the Freelancer is willing to charge the Buyer to complete the project.
2. The Freelancer waits to get selected by the Buyer.
3. The selected Freelancer performs the work as described by the Buyer.
4. The selected Freelancer gets paid by the Buyer.

A project is OPEN when it is still accepting bids from the Freelancers.  A project is FROZEN when a Freelancer is selected by a Buyer.  A project is CLOSED when it is accepted and completed by the Freelancer.

II/ Fixed-fee Graphics Design Projects:

With the graphics design projects, there is no bidding on the price.  The Buyers set the price.  The Freelancers compete by submitting their best designs for the Buyers to select, as outlined below:

1. A Buyer sets a fee that the Buyer is willing to pay for a design project.
2. A Freelancers who wants to participate first submits a bid using the same fee set by the Buyer.  This bid is used to indicate to the Buyer that the Freelancer wants to participate.
3. The Freelancer then submits a graphic design based on the Buyer's requirements.
4. The Buyer reviews the design and communicates with the Freelancer to request any clarification information.
5. The Buyer selects a winning design from one of the Freelancers.
6. The Freelancer associated with the selected design gets paid by the Buyer.

A graphics design project is OPEN when no Freelancer is selected by a Buyer.  The graphics design project is FROZEN after a Freelancer is selected. The graphics design project is CLOSED after the Freelancer accepts the selection and completes the design.
